•  It normally takes between 3-4 weeks to process an application (Recently it went up to 3-5 weeks)

•  Complete D1 form (Included in our package) as per our guide. (see picture and signature sample)

•  Attach covering letter (Included in our package)

•  If you have been in this country for more than 2 years, you need to have your photograph verified by someone reliable as per DVLA guidelines unless you have a UK provisional licence or a Travel Document issued by the Home Office.

•  Passports are needed for the application unless you have a UK provisional licence or a Travel Document issued by the Home Office. (Documents will be sent back to you with your British driving licence.). If you do not have passport, provisional licence or travel documents  See Appendix A for Further Details

•  If you’ve been in the country for less than 2 years, then you can have the DVLA counter staff to verify your photo in your passport.

•  The cost is £38 to exchange unless you have a provisional licence, then the service is free.(If you lost the paper counterpart, then the service costs £18)

•  If you hand in your application at one of DVLA’s offices you will receive a receipt which entitles you to drive legally straight away in the 3-5 week period while you’re waiting for your Driving Licence to arrive.
